Hey is everyone who is Chinese ready for Chinese New Year? Well if you are not, then you will be missing out on an entire day of festivals! Chinese New Year is basically when the lunar calendar ends and starts over. This year's celebration is on the 10th of February and there are going to be a parade in many places near the Bay area, such as Millbrae and Chinatown. Many people said that the best part of Chinese New Year is the red envelope, which are envelopes that are mainly presented at social and family gatherings such as weddings or on holidays such as the Lunar New Year. The red color of the envelope symbolizes good luck and is supposed to ward off evil spirits. In the envelopes are usually money that are for the children's that are given the envelope. Another interesting thing about Chinese New Year is that every year, there is a parade in many areas where a huge dragon is dancing with performers to celebrate the ancient mythology of the animal race. So grab your family, start cooking the special Chinese New Year's dishes and celebrate!
