Inverted Pyramid Structure

The Inverted Pyramid Structure is basically putting the main idea in the first sentence. Even though there are many type of pyramid structures, the Inverted Pyramid Structure is mainly for journalism. Click for more info.

"The inverted pyramid is a metaphor often used by writing instructors to illustrate how information should be arranged or presented within a news story. The pyramid’s broad base at the top of the figure represents the key information the writer means to convey. This is what the rest of the article will illustrate, often supported by quotes from individual’s involved in the story."

The Inverted Pyramid Structure is very important to journalism because it is use to grab the readers' attention. In journalism, this pyramid structure is like an instruction sheet on how to write a juicy article. Without the pyramid, there might be a world full of idiots since only a few people will read articles and books that doesn't have the main idea in the first sentence.

Ideas are the beginning points of all fortunes.”

In future writings, I shall use the Inverted Pyramid structure to my fullest in order to improve my writings. If you are reading this blog and managed to get to the end, then I wish you good luck in your future writings. See you next time in my next post.

"So it was important for reporters to write in what's known as a descending order of importance, the almighty 'inverted pyramid' shape, for editors to be able to cut from the bottom."
